Description

Learn the Homemade Croutons Recipe by Just Jeannie. Make crispy, flavorful croutons in minutes using simple ingredients—perfect for soups, salads, and snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of French bread or sourdough bread, cubed into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 stick salted butter (4 tbsp), melted
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the Bread:
Cube the bread into 1-inch pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Prepare the Seasoning:
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and olive oil. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Coat the Bread:
Drizzle the butter mixture over the bread cubes. Toss gently until all the cubes are evenly coated.
  4. Air Fry the Croutons:
Place the bread cubes in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Air fry at 375°F for 6-8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the croutons are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Cool and Serve:
Remove the croutons from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Notes

Pro Tip:

  • Use the croutons to top soups, salads, or as a crunchy snack!
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the bread before air frying.
  • No air fryer, place parchment paper on a baking sheet and spread out the croutons. Bake at 350 degrees until golden.  Turn off the oven and let the  rest inside for about 5-10 minutes until firm.
