The Rise of Just Jeannie: A Lifestyle Brand Story
People often ask how Just Jeannie came about. How a former OB-GYN becomes a luxury lifestyle cookbook author, Elevated Living class host and a home frgrance brand founder. I always give the same answer. This is no accident. This is the light.
Growing up in South Carolina I was raised with one rule above all others. Let your light shine. We sang it at church. We lived that at home. It was a simple message and non-negotiable. The light you bear is your own. It is a gift of God. Let it glow. That’s what you’re supposed to do. Never disguise it. Let nothing and no one extinguish it.
What I’ve come to understand is that the light is not about one thing. It is not a career, not a title, not a one-time calling. It holds together. It is the spirit – the full version of who you are – kept whole, carried forward. The light doesn’t go away as life changes. It simply finds new places to shine.
So when people ask me how I went from delivering babies to setting tables and pouring candles, I tell them. I am unchanged. I grew up. I am the woman I’ve always been, the woman I am today. Now I’m just manifesting that light in more ways of life, still in service to people, still growing, still shining.
That’s the story of the brand. Why it exists, who it’s for and where it’s going next.
From the Delivery Room to the Dining Room
I am an OB-GYN by training and have practiced that way for most of my adult life. But before medicine, I was a little girl watching the women in my family. My grandmother and the older women that raised me were gifted. They remembered the little things. A gesture that brought comfort to one. The detail that made someone stop and be seen. The quiet, selfless way they nurtured those around them. I was taking it all in without realizing I was taking notes.
That instinct translated into medicine. The words in the delivery room were clinical, but the work was deeply human. I was attracted to the turning points. Births. Loss. Starts. Tough conversations. Joy. And all of that I saw the same thing I saw watching my grandmother. The women I looked after remembered the little things. How I introduced myself. The hand upon their shoulder. The feeling of the room when they came in.
That was it, everything, those little moments. They influenced my view of care. And in the end, it shaped how I saw hospitality.
Why I Walked Away from Medicine
Leaving medicine was the hardest decision I have ever made, and also the clearest. I did not leave because I disliked the work. I left because I noticed something I could not unnotice. The same impulse that made me a careful doctor (the urge to make people feel held in vulnerable moments) was the impulse pulling me toward a different kind of work entirely.
I wanted to translate that care into everyday life. Not the operating room. The dining room. The candle on the counter. The tablescape on a Tuesday. The recipe you tested twice so your guests would feel relaxed when they arrived. Hospitality, I realized, was care made visible. And that is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
The Birth of Just Jeannie
If the story is landing for you, my newsletter is where it gets a little more personal. Weekly notes from my kitchen, my table, and the seasons of building this brand. The version of Just Jeannie I do not post anywhere else. Drop your email below and stay close.
The Four Pillars of Just Jeannie
Today, Just Jeannie is built on four content pillars. Each one reflects a different layer of the same philosophy: that intentional living is not a luxury; it is a practice.
Epicurean. The food pillar. Tested recipes, seasonal menus, and the dishes I make on actual weeknights for actual people. The food layer of intentional hospitality.
Maison. The home pillar. Tablescapes, entertaining inspiration, and the small rituals that turn ordinary rooms into the ones your guests remember walking into.
The Butter Edit. A content hub devoted entirely to butter. The technique, the recipes, the cultural history, and why the right butter changes the whole dish. A focused study inside a larger philosophy.
Pivotal Moments. The fragrance pillar. The candle collection I built alongside the cookbook so that every gathering has a scent layer to match the food and the table. Mystic Pumpkin, Yuletide Balsam Whisper, Luminosity, and the ones still coming.
From Brand to Book — Welcome to My Table
The cookbook came after years of being asked for it. Welcome to My Table is the long-form version of the brand. Thirty-five tested recipes, tablescape guides for every season, and Pivotal Moments scent pairings curated for each gathering. It is the hosting trifecta in one volume. The food, the table, the scent, all in one place.
I wrote it for the woman who wants to host but feels like she does not have time. For the new entertainer who wants guidance, not judgment. For the aesthetic lover who lives for a stunning table, and for the seasoned cook ready for fresh flavor and elevated technique. And honestly, I wrote it for the woman I was ten years ago, the one who would have wanted this book on her counter.
If the story behind the cookbook resonates with you, that whole journey lives inside the book.
More Recipes, More Moments
Welcome to My Table is my cookbook filled with recipes rooted in connection, flavor, and elevated everyday moments. From weeknight dinners to gatherings worth remembering.
What's Next for Just Jeannie
The brand is still being built, and that is the part I am most excited about. There are new candles in development inside the Pivotal Moments line. The Elevated Living class is opening its next cohort soon, and it is the deeper version of what I share on the blog. Live coaching, full hosting frameworks, and a community of women learning to make beauty a baseline, not a project.
There is more coming. More recipes, more tablescapes, more conversation about what it means to live and host with intention. If you have found your way to this page, you are part of the rise. I am glad you are here.
The Elevated Living class is the deeper version of everything on this page. A guided experience for women ready to build intentional hospitality into the way they live, not just the way they entertain. Doors open a few times a year. Find out when next.
The day-to-day of building this brand happens on Instagram. Behind-the-scenes from the kitchen, table-setting ideas, the candle-pouring process, and the small moments in between. Come follow along at @jeanniejacobs. You’ll feel like you’re part of the conversation.
